Using SSH Client
An SSH client is a software program which uses the secure shell protocol to connect to a remote computer.

as deployed at the university.

The following is a list of screen shots to assist you with your first connection. Your are encouraged to study the help facility provide with the application. Short cuts will assist with consistent connections and remove the need to type complex server names.
Opening Secure Shell Client displays the following dialogue.
Select 'Quick Connect'

The following dialogue is displayed.
In the 'Host Name' box
enter: cet-apache-02.cet.bolton.ac.uk
In the 'User Name' box
enter: [your username] e.g. xxx1gcc
Then select 'Connect'

As in the following example:

Without going into to much detail you can choose either:
'Yes' or 'No'

Enter the password provided or as per your tutor's instructions.

The following resultant display is presented.
Ypu are now at the command prompt of cet-apache-02.

selected from the Menu item 'Window' or the small yellow icon on the
icon menu bar. (Not the one ajacent to 'Profiles.
